On December 25th, a delegation led by Explore Group, along with Somali Group clients, visited Shenzhen’s Yantian Port for a research tour and discussions with relevant enterprises. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Zhan Hua, Deputy Director of the Yantian District Bureau of Commerce, as well as Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed Haji Nur, CEO of the Somali Youth Leadership and Initiatives Center, Mr. Abdiweli Ali Musse, and Explore Group’s Chairman Fu Tongbin, General Manager Bi Wenxiao, President of Explore International Thoms Ong, and Assistant to the Chairman Zhou Jinzhu.

In the morning, the Somali delegation visited the Yantian International Container Terminal Co., Ltd., where they toured the exhibition hall and engaged in in-depth discussions about the port’s facilities, logistics, security management, and future cooperation potential. Deputy Director Zhan Hua provided a comprehensive introduction to the port’s development history and its shipping routes. The Somali delegation’s visit aimed to better understand the port’s infrastructure and explore opportunities for enhancing trade cooperation between China and Africa. As an important trade partner in the African region, Somali clients have demonstrated significant strength and influence in international trade.

The delegation also took an interest in the sports infrastructure in Shenzhen, particularly as the demand for sports activities in Somalia is growing due to social, political, and economic factors. To address this, the Somali government plans to increase investment in sports facilities and introduce advanced technology for stadium construction. The goal is to enhance the quantity and quality of sports venues, meeting the needs of the people and promoting the development of the national sports industry.

As a result, the Somali delegation visited the Yantian District Sports Center for an on-site investigation. The delegation was highly impressed with the modern facilities in China’s sports venues, including basketball courts, badminton halls, and swimming pools. They were particularly impressed by the spacious areas, advanced equipment, and excellent service, which left a deep impression on them.

In the afternoon, the Somali delegation visited China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC) Shenzhen office and held a meeting focused on the renovation of Somali sports facilities. The session began with a detailed discussion on the current state of Somali sports venues. Currently, the facilities in Somalia are outdated, with a seating capacity of 65,000, and there is a significant need for renovation. The group also watched a corporate promotional video from CCCC, which enhanced their understanding of the company’s capabilities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, CCCC expressed its willingness to undertake the Somali sports venue renovation project, offering comprehensive services, including global procurement of equipment, logistics, installation, operation, and after-sales services. These services will be customized to meet the specific needs of Somali sports venues, setting a strong foundation for future collaboration between China and Somalia.
